40/40 Club To Host Celebrity Casino Night To Raise Awareness For Lack Of Minorities In Baseball

Posted by Juan

Its not all bad for the Jay-Z owned club.

Casino Night

Part of what I hope to accomplish in my blogging is being fair and ballanced.  Sure I share opinions but they’re all based on facts and current events.  If a company effs up, I go in but if they do good in the hood I have to share that as well.

Such is the case with Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club.  They have teamed up with the Metropolitan Junior Baseball League (MJBL)  to raise awareness for the lack of minorities in baseball and raise money for development programs. In support, the 40/40 will host a celebrity studded Casino Night with full slot, machines, poker, black jack and roulette tables during the MLB All Star weekend.  The event will be hosted by Maxim feature model Michelle Bernard and feature a blend of stars from the worlds of sports and entertainment.  Attendees will also have the chance to bid on items from former MLB Stars like Yogi Berra to current stars like Ryan Howard via a silent auction.

“When Jackie Robinson’s Anniversary came around, players and corporations said they wanted to do something about this issue (in other words, put up or shut up). We are giving them an opportunity to be a part of America’s longest standing African American Baseball league and this event represents our
challenge to America to help us make a difference,” says MJBL Executive director William Forrester, Jr.

Another detail of note, the embattled BET Networks, which was under fire all week after several major advertisers pulled spots due to the network’s explicit content, has signed on as a sponsor for the organization.
