Kimora Takes Russell To the Bank in Divorce Settlement. Unreasonable Child Support & Demands
Who The Hell Does She Think She Is?

Looks like Russell Simmons is the latest music mogul to be taken to the bank for child support following his recent divorce from Kimora Lee Simmons. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Simmons will be ordered to pay $480,000 per year (or $20,000 per kid/ month to be exact.)
Kimora will maintain sole custody of their two children, Ming Lee and Aoki Lee with Russell will be “granted” visitation every eighth week. In addition, Russell is ordered to pay $18,000/ month for maintenence of the couple’s Saddle River, New Jersey Crib which they have put on the market to sell. Kimora will be allowed to freeload at the residence untill they close on the house. If that’s not enough, Russell must provide Kimora with a new whip every two years, valued at no less than $60,000.
Let me preface this brief rant by the fact that I DO NOT have any children nor have I ever been married and subsequently suffered through a divorce. I understand the institution of child support…I’m not going to argue against it. That’s a loosing battle anyway. What does agitate me is the fact that a self-sustaining, responsible and independently successful woman who upon her own free will chose to part ways with her husband has denied him child custody. In doing so she’s essentially telling the court a) he’s unfit to be a father more than every EIGHTH week or B) she doesn’t need his support. But on the other hand she’s contradicting her claims by taking him to the ringer.Â
Now I understand this may be a drop in the bucket to Russell but what kind of message are we sending? This argument is not just reserved for Lee girls but with kids across this great and vast nation. Young men have toiled for years paying child support but at the same time denied any reasonable custody or visitation with their children. Although we hear so many stories of men who don’t pay their are lots of them WHO DO. But it is these very men whose children grow up BELEIVING their father wasn’t in the picture, didn’t support them, and wasn’t a part of their life. WHY? because mommy chose to make that child’s parenting a business decision.Â
I get it this entire marriage wasn’t about love to begin with but when you bring children into the equation you have to be much more responsible than Kimora has been. There are no explanation other than greed to demand that Russell pay for a whip valued at no less than $60 large every two years. How about give the court a list of vehicles that are safe and reliable, regardless of price, to keep your children safe. I’m tired of hearing stories like this. Nation get at me.Â

I think you are right! He should also fight for joint custody. He should take her back to court to fight to only pay child support. I think he would take care of his kids without the ruling anyway. She is a leech!
Here’s my beef. Is she’s real with hers and claims to be a mogul in her own right with TV shows, books and companies why then does she need all that money from Russell if she doens’t want to grant him joint custody? You want to be viewed as a n independently wealthy chick, you want to have these girls independently of their father? Well do it with your own loot too. Cause it’ll be a shame when the girls grow up resenting pops for not being around even though is money sure enough was.

A woman’s perspective…I agree that a father should be involved in the daily rearing of his kids but they should be responsible to provide their children with a lifestyle which their income can sustain, both while married and after divorcing. Russel Simmons is a multi million dollar mogul who created a lifestyle where his 2 girls are only exposed to the best. Now why after the divorce should they be the ones to suffer? Also it take 2 to divorce. It takes 2 signatures on the contract therefore kimora did not bring this onto herself. Lastly, lets not forget that kimora WORKS for Russel. He owns babyphat and all the subsequent businesses that followed and kimora was just the president of the company, therefore who knows if she is still employed by her ex husband after the divorce. So she might not be this independent wealthy black woman that she once was and actually needs the money that was granted to her and her kids. As far as the visitation every 8 weeks, because Russell is a mogul and a jet setter, living a bi-coastal life, be probably only sees his kids every 8 weeks and that is not kimora’s fault. If he truly wants to spend more time with his children he’s rich enough to afford a lawyer who can get him equal visitation. If he is content with the outcome of the proceedings, then you cant put that on the mother. Fathers need to fight for what they want if they truly want it and stop blaming the system and mothers for their laziness.
Exactly fathers need to FIGHT while mothers custody is assumed. Lets not give Kimora some old struggling single mother image. She has a TV show RIGHT now called “Living the Fab Life.” If she’s not the reasoning behind that its time for HN to go in on her and expose this faux bitch for the fraud she really is.

I agree with Juan. Word to the fellas.. next time you bump and grind with Ms. All that.. think about the slight possiblity that woman could later be the mother of your child and try and take you to the cleaners for everything she thinks you got.
Where to start: THIS WOMAN IS NOT STRUGGLING!!! I am a woman, and I do not agree with anything stated by Ms. Lana.It is sad because between Kimora, and Fifty’s baby mama, black women are looking pretty greedy right now. I am curious as to what judge would be concerned about how much a car costs!! Why is he paying rent if she has her own? I believe in paying what you owe, but this was highway robbery!! Mr. Simmons needs better representation, and not to take this lying down. This also goes back to getting with people who have what you have, then, you do not have to worry about these situations.
Here’s the thing. It all about maintaining the lifestyle of the children. If the kids are used to having diamond encrusted luchboxes, then they can’t be expected to replace them with ruby encrusted ones. Even if Kimora is rich herself, Rus has to come up off the loot so the lifestyle of the children remains intact.

It is not about replacing lunch boxes, nor money. Something tells me this man was taking care of his children quite well. It seems as if the judge was “making sure” he kept doing what he was already doing, but more of it. No matter how you slice it, this man was raked over the coals. We can comment on this all day, but in the end we all have to answer to a bigger JUDGE.

Ok lets take a glance at a few things.
#1. Russel defended Kimora when they seperated and I’m sure he will after the divorce. Out of his own mouth he indicated how much Kimora’s loves those little girls. Watch her show for evidence. Those little girls have security,vehicles to travel,private school,tennis lessons,dance lessons,tutors for travel, and much more. Some of those things is what Russel wanted (security etc).
As for the companies & the brand-Russel sold Phat Fashions last year & is no longer the CEO. Kimora runs Phat Farm & Baby Phat. I think $60,000 to some of us is a lot of money, but to them that’s nothing. We have everyday people buying $60,000 cars that they can’t even afford. I think there’s a lot that goes along with a divorce and that the documents won’t have all the details because they know the media is going to access it. A lot of details are sealed sometimes when celebrities are involved. What matters is they finally came to an agreement & still love & respect eachother.
