Producer takes home top honors
Although you’d probably first associate Timbaland with his beat making prowess, he took home the coveted songwriter of the year at ASCAP’s 21st annual Rhythm & Soul Music Awards Monday (June 23) evening.
Timbaland was awarded top props for contributions on four joints: Omarion’s “Ice Box,” My favorite, “Make Me Better” by Fabolous and Ne-Yo and two Justin Timberlake records, “My Love” (featuring T.I.) and “Until the End of Time” (featuring Beyoncé). Keri Hilson who Timbaland colaborated with on the Verizon V Cast Mobile Producing Studio project actually finished second with three award-winning songs.
Among the others to receive props from the performance rights organization were:
Robin Thicke’s “Lost Without U” – R&B/hip-hop song of the year rap song of the year
Fabolous featuring Ne-Yo “Make Me Better” – Rap Song of the Year????
Mims’ “This Is Why I’m Hot” – Ringtone of the year
