VH1 Announces plans for 5th Annual Hip Hop Honors.

Will air on VH1 on Tuesday, October 7

The 5th annual VH1 Hip Hop Honors will take place at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York taping Thursday, October 2, 2008 and premiering on VH1 on Tuesday, October 7.Â The event pays tribute “hip hop luminaries who broke new ground and propelled the genre into truly global phenomenon.” (not my words, pilfered from the press release but was put so eloquently I decided to quote it.)

Although no attendees, performers or honorees have yet been announced the event promises bridge the generational gap residing in Hip Hop for one night.Â Here’s the legendary tribute to the Notorious B.I.G. at the 2005 event.
