Tom Brokaw To Host ‘Meet the Press’ Through Election
Will fill the shoes of the late, Tim Russert
In place of the late, great Tim Russert, Tom Brokaw will moderate “Meet the Press” at least until the 2008 presidential election in November, according to the New York Times.
Russert, the former moderator of “Meet the Press” of course died on June 13 at time where many look to the programs for political analysis surrounding the Presidential Election. Last Sunday, Brokaw the former host of “NBC Nightly News” hosted tribute to Russert
“I’ve been appearing on ‘Meet the Press’ since the days of Watergate when it was moderated by Lawrence E. Spivak right through the distinguished tenure of my great friend, Tim Russert, so I feel right at home,” Brokaw said in a statement. “Tim made ‘Meet the Press’ the center of the universe for informative and lively discussions of public affairs, particularly the exciting 2008 campaign for president, and I intend to continue that commitment to our viewers.”

Ironic. During Tim’s funeral Tom made a joke saying something along the lines of “this room is filled with friends, family and people who want to succeed Tim on ‘Meet The Press’”. Turns out he’s the one to succeed Russert. But seeing as how Tom and Tim were close friends, I think it’s fitting
