Dissecting An Album Cover: Sean Garrett’s Turbo 919

Posted by Mike "Evorgleb" Belgrove

So what exactly is the artistic meaning behind this cover?

So faithful Highbrid Nation readers, here’s another suspect album cover for us to dissect. Though it may look like a mixtape cover, this is indeed the official artwork for Sean Garrett‘s album Turbo 919. So what is the artistic meaning behind this album artwork? Does he think that he’s R&B’s version of James Bond? Maybe he sees his musical persona as a troubled complex figure not unlike the characters found in the Sin City movie? And what’s up with the baby mo-hawk? Maybe a tribute to his favorite show as a child, the A-Team? What do you think of they were trying to say with this stupid looking cover.

The Suit and the Bike are all good but it’s just a little too dramatic with the rain and the darkness. I don’t have a problem with the night time but it’s straight up black out there. It’s raining everywhere but his head.
