New Movie Trailer: Spike Lee’s “Miracle at St. Anna”
This is the flick that caused the controversey with Clint Eastwood
Here’s the trailer from the Spike Lee Joint that I’ve been telling you guys about, “Miracle at St. Anna.” The film was inspired as a way to pay homage to the forgotten contribution of black soldiers in World War II. It is based on a novel about members of the U.S. Army’s 92nd Division of black soldiers who become trapped in Italy during WWII.
During a recent promotion of the film, Spike took jabs at Clint Eastwood’s two recent Iwo Jima flicks, “Flags Of Our Fathers” and “Letters from Iwo Jima” claiming that in the filmmaker’s “vision of Iwo Jima, Negro soldiers did not exist. Simple as that. I have a different version.â€

From the trailer this appears to be the biggest movie Lee has ever undertaken. And it looks like it might be pretty good.
I’m not really a fan of Lee’s directing with all the odd placed jazz music and the people floating across the ground and stuff but this looks like it might be a something a little different.
And I also agree with Lee as far as the role of blacks in the war. People beleive what they see on the screen and the fact that black faces never show up in these war movies is a disservice to the men and women who were right there on the front lines with everyone else.
I agree, the movie looks nice. I was never a fan a Lee either until 25th Hour. But judging by the pic used to represent the article, best beleive he will have ‘his magic’ touch in it. People will float, and people will mysteriously freeze to stare at the camera as it rolls pass. But that’s cool it dosen’t always ruin the movie, matter of fact I look forward to see where he’ll put it.
exactly.
Lee’s movies are genius. Although his camera shots are sometimes a little weird they are his trademarks. ITS DIFFERENT when you watch a Spike Lee joint. He’s had a very successful catalog. I’d be willing to place him up there with the greats who have the huge financial backing that he’s never had.
not really into the old wars
