FOX News Decribes Michelle “Obama’s Baby Mama”
Comments are racist and inappropriate in so many ways.
The gloves are off…let the games begin. In a world where people look to their news sources for important information free from bias its a shame that the Fox News Channel not only has merit but is viable. Criticized by many for being politically motivated, the network rarely if ever does anything to dispute such charges.
The political blogoshpere was inflamed yesterday when Fox News described Michelle Obama as “Obama’s Baby Mama” despite the obvious fact that she is his legal wife. Sometimes we’ll hear these things and say “ahhh that can’t be true. someone has fabricated that.” But oh no it’s true. Peep the screenshot. The caption was aired during an interview with conservative blogger, Michelle Malkin concerning the recent Republican attacks on Michelle Obama.
Its really sad. I understand in politics, many things are fair game but using a term that many privileged, non-hip white folks believe is “ghetto” or uncivilized is not only an attempt to discredit the Obama Family but instead openly displays their profound opinion of an entire race in general. The more I think about it this transcends any election or party preference, it speaks to the reckless nature with which FOX and many people abuse their position of public influence to covertly disseminate messages of hate. Was that they’re intent…perhaps not but the folks that run these networks (ie: Ruport Murdoch) are far smarter than I and I would assume do so with full conscious. Its not surprising but very disappointing.

It’s really disgusting. Humor ok…but not at the expense of the election or better yet an entire race. That’s what we call racism and has no place in news broadcasting.

The Republicans are desperate and willing to say anything for their candidate cause they know they’re finished. When Obama gave the fist pound to his wife, Fox News said last night that it was a “terrorist fist jabb”. Most poeple realize Fox news are idiots anyway.
For them to be ‘Fair and Unbiased’ read the news marquee at the bottom, it keeps beating up on Obama and Praising the Republicans, totally ‘Fair and Unbiased’.
It’s so messed up what they are trying to do to Obama over at Fox. Unfortunately it seems that if the media has it their way, racial relations are going to run higher before he’s elected. But I think he will be elected and he will heal thos relations.

I think people are taking this too seriously. I agree with Mike Belgrove (above) about this being a joke gone wrong. I think they were trying to rhyme, but “Obama’s wife” would have sufficed.
We have bigger issues in this world to deal with than how Fox News treats a black candidate. He is not exempt from criticism when we still live in a world where most black men don’t even get any respect at all.
People need to stop whining and stay focused. It’s like a runner who stops every time he hears a heckler. He’ll never win the race. The same applies to Obama supporters. Keep pushin’ and stop being so damn sensitive!!!!!!
Sensitivity is one thing. I think people have the right to be critical of candidates just as much as we have the right to be sensitive.
My question however to you is do you feel this is APPROPRIATE. I’m not going to give FOX a pass because accountability applies to them as well as to Obama.
Zach’ comment is in part the problem. Michelle gets disrespected and the response implies Barack was the one on the receiving end. Why bring up black men at this particular moment. Its about how black women are dehumanized. Not to imply that the two are divorced but that whenever we discuss race we default to black men. Which is what part of the problem with the primary was in the first place. Black men talking about racism, and white women talking about sexism. What about those who fit into both categories…
Good point. FOX is further perpetuating an EPIDEMIC in our community, black, white or other. The unfortunate degradation of women.

We may have to let Fox News off the hook. I’m hearing that Michelle actually has refered to herself as Barack’s “baby mama” in the past. I’m gonna see if i can find some video to back that.
