Lil Wayne’s Flick Now Titled ‘Hurricane Season’
No More “Patriots”
The movie’s still the same but the name has changed…buy why? The Weinstein Co. drama featuring Forrest Whitaker as Al Collins, a high school basketball coach that leads a ragtag team to win the state finals just a year after the Katrina disaster will no longer be titled “Patriots.”
The change name change ominously coincides with the start of the hurricane season. But according to screenwriter Robert Eisele, ‘Hurricane Season’ is a better fit.” The name “Patriots” was taken primarily from the team’s nickname, but other than that is irrelevant to the movie’s focus and film’s brass felt it might mislead viewers somehow suggesting a political message, especially given the current focus on American politics.
