Jim Jones Explains Backstage Altercation With Police At HOT 97′s Summer Jam Concert

Posted by Juan

Says they were provoked by his on-stage comments about Sean Bell

Jim Jones

Earlier this week, The New Jersey Record reported that Jim Jones‘ entourage got into an altercation with police backstage at Hot 97 annual Summer Jam concert where Jones made a surprise appearance at the event and performed. According to the report, as Jones and his entourage were leaving the stage,  his 26-year-old bodyguard, Charles Chandler, was arrested after he allegedly grabbed a trooper’s head and face before another officer intervened.  So what set it off?

Jones explained in an interview with HHNLive that the men they were arguing with didn’t initially identify themselves as police and were apparently enraged by his incendiary references to the Sean Bell Verdict.  Here’s an excerpt:

“This is 2008 not the times of Martin and Malcolm and they did their thing. They are not letting us do that type of shit anymore. We have to be smart about the tools that we use to make this bullshit better. Like the Sean Bell incident happens everyday.”

“As you know, I just got into it with the police and had an incident where they pulled a gun out on me for NO reason. Undercover. And I didn’t know who the fuck they were and they didn’t come out with any badges until after they had sprayed mase, then they want to say they are police. Shit is crazy. It’s tough out here. And they still out here profiling and they rap police out here.”

“We don’t get any respect out here. The more we get money, the more they want to take us down and it’s terrible. And for the ones that don’t got no money they are done from the get go. Cats with felonies and shit. The situation gets way too deep and it’s been going on forever. And we ain’t getting a break no time fucking soon.”

Although I’m sure there’s probably more to the story Jones’ story makes far more sense than the original report in the New Jersey Record.  When asked why he thinks police act the fool sometimes, Jones said:

“The police get scared, they get nervous. They don’t follow protocol,” Jones began explaining. “I don’t even want to even get into all of that because it’s bug man. I’m not going to say all police are bad, but there are police that really give them all a bad rap when it comes to us and sh**. I feel like it’s no justice, it’s no f***ing peace. So f*** them.”

I saw the footage, and Jim Jones and crew were walking like they were God. When the undercover was taking pictures and approached the body guard, the guard started pushing him and someone else throw a water bottle into the crowd of cops. The cops then pulled out their guns. If you gonna act gangster then dont get mad cuz someone puts a gun in your face, man up! live my the gun, dont be afraid to die by the gun.
