Eddie Murphy To Return As ‘Axel Foley’ in Beverly Hills Cop 4

Posted by Juan

I already have the theme song stuck in my head

Axel Foley

Axel Foley IS BACK!  yeaaaaaaaaahhhh booooyeeee!   Wait yall don’t sound as excited as me.  That’s right Eddie Murphy is expected to return to the role of Detroit detective in the fourth installment of the “Beverly Hills Cop” movie franchise.

Brett Ratner has been fingered to direct the flick and Murphy has been confirmed for the sequel to the sequel to the sequel which will tentatively begin shooting in 2009 for a 2010 summer release.  (I didn’t realize this but apparently Jerry Bruckheimer was at the helm of the first three flicks)

Variety is reporting that the movie was Murphy’s idea… and why not.  His career lately has been a total flop and with the industry now flooded with other talented comedian/ actors Murphy might be looking to once again tap the well that first anointed him a legitimate movie star.

Altogether, the franchise has grossed $712.9 million worldwide with the last (and wackest) being released in 1994.

I don’t know. BHC 3 was so bad, I thought that this franchise was going to drift off into a distant memory. I don’t even know what else they could do with it.

They better come up with a bangin’ storyline if this thing is to float.

Sorry guys.As usual, I have to go against the grain with you.Why would I go and fill the bank account of a person who gets someone pregnant, denies it, then refuses to pay child support for said person? When are we going to realize we put these people where they are, and they have a MORAL obligation to live up to their role model status. If they do not, why should we be dumb enough to continue to line their pockets? Without US there is no THEM!!! Stay Blessed!!!

Deanna, lovely Deanna…*sighs* We do realize that this is about business. I agree with you that there are several morality issues with Eddie not limited to his abandoning his child. HOWEVER that doesn’t mean his right to make a living should be eliminated or restricted. If you feel the way you do where you protest that is at the box office.
