Baltimore To Ban Sale of Loose Cornerstore Cigars

Posted by Juan

No More Loosies and Blunts

Dutches

Looks like the City of Baltimore is looking to crack down on recreational weed smokers out there.  Disguised as an attack on underage smokers nicotine dependency prevention, Baltimore officials have proposed a citywide ban on the sale of blunts and loosies at corner stores/ bodegas. Minneapolis/ St. Paul, Minnesota recently issued a similar ban on all loose tobacco products.

According to NewsOne.com, since 1998, small cigars have been the fastest-growing segment of the expanding cigar market. From 1998 to 2006, consumption of large cigars increased by 45 percent, while small cigar consumption increased by 154 percent. The most recent data show that in 2005, 14 percent of high school students were current weed cigar smokers.

First it was Kool-Aid now blunts and loosies?!  These are long standing signature staples of the hood.  As a non smoker whose no longer a resident of Maryland the legislation obviously doesn’t effect me but it makes me wonder why the legislation has been drafted as a crack down on tobacco.  This is a blatent attack on weed smokers…when was the last time YOU ever saw anyone actually smoke a blunt as a cigar?    although we all know

I actually know folk that smoke cigars. It’s odd to see. But I used to think that folk who drank wine and new key brands was odd.

“…when was the last time YOU ever saw anyone actually smoke a blunt as a cigar?…”

Ha ha, either way, it dont matter anyway. My dudes in “Bodymore” buy Dutches & White Owls by the boxes, and are never cig’less when leaving the house. This might just be added incentive to pump the bag with Dutch…for a small added price of course. Kinda like a “Haze Bundle”…with FREE lighter, maybe.
