More Desperate measures for that ‘Liquid Gold’
You may have to pay for more than gas…
Just when you thought gas epidemic couldnt get any worst, a new, scratch that, resurfacing method of gas theft is on the rise. Now instead of driving off from the gas station without paying, or siphoning gas from an unsuspecting victim.
Police reports, as well as mechanics across the U.S. say tank and line puncturing is beginning to bloom again onto the list of these crimes as it day back in the 70’s. Cases like in Bethesda, Md., involving a thief who broke the fuel line underneath a car and drained 5 gallons of gas. Police there said a bus in that same parking lot had 30 gallons of diesel stolen…GAMBLE!!!
Right now the bigger targets are the bigger vehicles like that bus and also Sport Utilities given there height. Plastic tanks are targets as well, since they are alot easier to drill into and less likely to spark causing a human banana flambe’. Plus some new vehicle tanks have “check balls” that prevent spills in a rollover accident, which siphoning the gas tanks harder. The cost of replacing a damaged tank is somwhere in the $3-400 range, that is metal. If you have plastic(newer cars) your looking at about $400.
Its like I say fam…with every bit of greed that is fed, the masses gets hungrier. But as a car team boss, these times are really getting to me. I guess I better invest in a house with a garage…or just a garage, an put it on lock down. I dont think it was this heavy since Katrina, when I was down in Waveland, Mississppi, Sept/Oct 05 that was one of the TOP things you heard about. And cats were takin all kinds of gas, even the bio-diesel type(cooking oil).
