Today (Monday), Charles Ramsey, Philadelphia’s police commissioner sh*t canned four officer and disciplined four others for their roles in the videotaped beatings of three shooting suspects.  The video of the May 5th incident which we reported last week was shot by a WTXF-TV helicopter.  According to the commish another eight officers involved in the melee will undergo “training” on the department’s policies on the use of force.

If you’re keeping track that’s a total of 16 officers that felt they needed to beat these suspect’s brains senseless.  Maybe we need to rethink this!  A total of 19 officers, 18 of which were city police and one random transit officer were involved.  If 16 of 19 officer’s instincts told them that these young black men deserved an ass whopping maybe they were justified?  After all the are the law, right?  Isn’t the law always right?  Let alone 16 officers of that same law who agreed that excessive force was necessary.  So next time you’re a victim of police brutality take a moment out between shots to the cranium from that officer’s billyclub and re-evaluate whether or not you really deserved that ass whopping.  Maybe you’ll find those officers of the peace were in fact justified or maybe you imagined it all entirely.

Two of the officers being fired are relatively new to the force and can be terminated immediately, Ramsey said. Two others are being suspended without pay for 30 days with intent to dismiss.  Three other officers are being suspended and one sergeant is being demoted. A criminal investigation is continuing.
