Nas Changes From “Nigger” to “Nas”

Album now self-titled and longer named “Nigger.”

This Album Cover is officially a collectors item.

As I told you on Saturday, there was no way Nas was going to make it to shelves or Amazon with an album title like “Nigger.” Honestly I could see 100 different arguments why he should and why he shouldn’t name the album the racial slur but apparently the one reason he shouldn’t that won out invariably was MONEY!Enterainment Weekly is reporting that a representative for Def Jam has confirmed that Nas officially changed the title of his new to “Nas.” The “Nigger” title had been a source of contention for the Island Def Jam Music Group brass although Def Jam chair “L.A.” Reid publicly denied that label caught the heebie jeebies from the album title. “We stand firmly behind and beside our artists with pride and with pleasure,” Reid told MTV News. “Anything Nas wants to do, I completely stand beside him.”

I’m sure they’re much happier now and we’ll stop hearing silly excuses for why the album was pushed back. The change became imminent after Nas told MTV last week that “Everybody is trying to stop the title…. Record stores are gonna have a problem in this day and time selling a record with that title. Who knows what’s gonna turn out and be on that title? Who knows what that title will be?” The inflammatory album is still slated for July 1 but look for it at the end of the summer. .

nas already accomplished getting the media attention and stirring about some controversy like he intended

when people see the new title it won’t be hard to recall the last one. hip-hop needs nas

I think he’s going to change it again… Nas is more creative than to just self-title his album. As I stated in my blog, I think he should just title it “The N-Word” or go the NWA route and title it backwards.

You people are hell of ingnorant calling Nas stuff for something yall probably don’t even understand. This guy is a poet and it don’t matter what his album title is called hes still gonna drop some dope shit. Ya I feel it though he probably will change the title again. Looking foward to hearing this album not because of the media attention its getting but because its nasty nas..
