What Do You Think About The Girl Who Will Play Aaliyah in Biopic?
Keshia Chante is her name and must I say damnnn!
Yeah yeah, not sure if she can dance like my baby but the resemblance is kinda crazy. She’s fly in her own way but I think it makes sense. Shorty is a Candian singer and word is she does have acting skill. The Aaliyah biopic is slated to begin filming this August

The girl looks like Aaliyah a little..not that much. I think Alicia Keys or Stacey Dash[Aaliyah's friend] should play her in the movie. Cause in Alicia’s video “Like You’ll Never See Me Again” she could pull off that Aaliyah look. And Stacey Dash could too. And plus she’d have an advantage because she knew Aaliyah for a long time. I mean I ain’t never heard of Keisha Chante, but I don’t think soo. She is pretty give her props. But she’s from Canada, and they have accents. So it probably wouldn’t sound too good in the movie, because Aaliyah didn’t have an accent. But I think it’d be more between, Alicia Keys and Stacey DAsh. I think more Alicia Keys, because she got more of her resemblance than this girl. She would probably fit more better with Aaliyah’s style too. Cause when Aaliyah’s fans, and people in the industry who knew her see the video, they’re gonna want to see things that reminded them of her. This girl I don’t think knows Aaliyah, so it’d be more of an obstacle to pull her personality off. But I know Alicia Keys could do it. She’s got Aaliyah’s swag too. All she really gotta do is dye her hair jet black, and put some make up on, and she’d look like her. Plus she sings, and does a little bit of dance. That would look alot better.
First off, I agree with many that no one can really play Aaliyah because she was one in a million, but just like the new Notorious movie of B.I.G, someone needs to be given a chance.
Now, Keisha is a personal friend of mine, and we have always said she looks like Aaliyah, more than just a little bit. And the girl can actually sing, whether or not you have heard about her or not.
The reason I wanted to reply to you especially was because of your “she’s from canada, and they have accents”. If you knew anything about Canada, especially Toronto where we both our from, you would know we are a melting pot of people. And unlike the direct accents you guys have in the states, we don’t sound like that. If you come from the Caribbean, then you have a Caribbean accent, and so on, but otherwise if you have been living here almost your entire life, like Keisha, then you are neutral. We are no different from the differences that you all have on how the people in New York speak versus those from anywhere in the South. So before you make assessments like that, get educated. And I’m sure the producer and director have cast her for the role because of her abilities, not just her looks, and if they think she should play the part, I think we should all just let it be, and be happy for her, because she gets to boost her career (you will know about her after this) but she is also depicting the life of an amazing woman, artist and role model.
i hear what both of you are sayin.. but truth is … Canadians DO HAVE A VERRRRRRRY DIFFERENT ACCENT THAN Americans…. … like you said in T.O. yall got a ‘diverse’ population just like elsewhere in the world right about now but there’s a HUGE difference in the way we speak… i grew up in America, i moved to Canada at an older age and Im always bein called out on how different i sound and I can always hear that Canadian accent as well…. so gettin back to this Aaliyah movie. no doubt there’s no other like Aaliyah… tho Keshia is a better pick than the last broad (i believe it was ol’ girl from the new NOTORIOUS movie..lil kim?) i hope she can fake that accent better than all other canadians can!
I was in Toronto last week and the Canadian accent is pretty much the same as that of American people. If you mean they speak ebonics, then that I can agree with.

nah alicia has too much body to play aaliyah remember aaliyah was hella slim so that leaves a-keys outta that category,and if she loses weight she might look funny.
I am a big fan of Aaliyah and I think Keisha is pretty but looks nothing like Aaliyah, Aaliyah’s face was smaller,and she was darker and the face structure was different from Keisha’s however I think she’ll pull it off because she’s talented.

i don’t think she look like her. Her hair make her look like her, but other than that NO. Besides she’s from up state and i know she talk so different.
I think she could pull it off and she have to realize that she is playing the LEDGENDARY PRINCESS OF HIP-HOP & R&B. She does have big shoes to feel because no one can ever be AALIYAH EVER she was to damn beautiful and soooooo talented and i’m a HUGE FAN of Aaliyah and no one can ever be her. So all i have to say is good luck Keisha Chante hope you the best cause it took someone with courage like you to take this role……. please don’t mess it up (not in a bad way)

Aaliyah was beautiful.Kesha is uhh…cute.They need to recast(if they already have not)or have an open casting call like they did with the movie Selena.Lisa tucker looks more like Aaliyah or Lujza Abylane .Shes a NYC theater actress.Shes sultry,Sexy,Mysterious just like lili was.Look her up .You will see what im talking about.Very talented actress.
I think she will do a good job, the singing doesn’t really matter because she’s going to be lip singing aaliyah’s music. The dancing is important and i think Keshia knows what she’s doing, her movements are flowy,she makes it look easy and she knows how to move her body still looking sexy without going overboard on the eye candy just like aaliyah did. Plus she has a sort of look like aaliyah more than the others wanting to play the part.I’m really expecting perfection in this movie i’m serious, it would be such a disappointment if the person they choose to play aaliyah doesn’t deliver the part and it would really be an insult to aaliyah and who she was.

keisha should not play aaliyah. She looks nothing like aaliyah. I would be so upset!!! The only person who can do aaliyahs role justice is jada pinkett….she’s so classy and yet tomboyish at the same time…just watch and listen to jada speak….they have the same speechless prescence and aura about them both…and both are exceptionally beautiful….I’m sorry we need to pass on that we want jada and no one else!!!
Jada Pinkett is in her f*cking 40′s! That means to damn old to play a girl who died in her early 20′s.Some people are f*cking stupid. Meagan Good is an ugly big lip ,weave wearing bad actress,and her boobs are to big.Kesha Chante looks like a Bratz doll with that big head of hers.She is also a midget. Lisa Tucker does look like Aaliyah . I think the best thing is to have an open casting call.
