Michael Jackson’s 1983 ‘Thriller’ among 25 albums Selected For Preservation By the Library Of Congress
That album that lives on forever
Perhaps the most complete album of all time, Michael Jackson’s 1983 release “Thriller” was selected Wednesday to join 24 other recordings for preservation by the Library of Congress.
The bestselling LP of all-time which featuring classic records like “Billie Jean” and “Beat It” has been sent to the National Recording Registry. Each year The Library of Congress chooses 25 recordings to preserve for historical value. Nominations come from online suggestions with the final decision made by a preservation board at the Library of Congress. In total there 250 in the Library’s register.

That’s great for Mike. I can only wonder how tough that will be over the course of a decade. With the decreasing quality of work being put out.

I think decreasing quality is relative. We’re more fans of the urban/ black music scene but folk music for example is on the rise.
I better see Purple Rain too…Yes I’m a Prince over Michael fan!
Good call. I think Purple rain might be more cult following however. It definately didn’t have the same cross over success of Thriller which is the number one selling record of all time.
i’ll have something for you tonight on ME
big ups Mike
I’m with ya on that. Purple Rain may not be as deserving as Thriller but it stands today as the greatest movie soundtrack of all time according to most major publications.
