Rapper Remy Ma was sentenced to eight years in prison today by a Manhattan Supreme Court judge for shooting her friend Makeda Barnes-Joseph in the stomach after the two argued over money after leaving a party.

According to XXL she caught five years on weapons charges and three joints on coercion. The sentences will run concurrently for a total of eight years.  I’m sure her and her boo, Papoose’s stunt yesterday didn’t help with leniency in her sentencing. 

“I’m not a thug,” Remy Ma told the judge. “I’m not a hardcore anything, I have feelings. I’m a wife, mother, daughter, big sister.”  Ahhhhh, you shot  your homegirl Remy.  Are we supposed to feel like you were just doing your family duty?

And if the entire ordeal wasn’t hood enough supporters in the court room were decked out in red and white T-shirts with the words “Free Remy” across the front.   You can’t make this up.  It’s like VH1 Reality TV without the TV.  She makes Foxy Brown look like a alter girl.

After the verdict Papoose, the rapper’s fiance, held a stoic look on his face as he left the court room but later got into beef with court officers.  He could be heard saying “Fuck jail,” as he was escorted out. “Fuck jail, lock me up. I don’t care, y’all just want money. She didn’t’ do nothing.”  Ahhhh yes…more ghetto fabulousity for your ass.  

Although the DA wanted Remy to do 13 years judge settled on eight. According to the report however her attorney and management said they were happy with the judge’s leniency but intend to appeal the sentencing.
