Morehouse to Graduate First WHITE Valedictorian

Posted by Juan

What was his motivation?

Morehouse

Morehouse College is scheduled to make history on Saturday when Joshua Packwood becomes the first white student to deliver the valedictory address in the schools 141-year history.

The 22-year-old from Kansas City, Missouri, will graduate with a perfect 4.0 GPA and a degree in economics and is headed for the Wall Street firm Goldman Sachs. Although Packwood considered Stanford, Columbia and USC he was went Morehouse because of his relationship with recruiter, George Gray. Morehouse didn’t even graduate a white student until 1966.

Packwood says no Ivy League school could have provided him with the perspective that he has now. “I cannot tell you what a black man is,” he said. “I really learned to look much deeper. It takes a lot of effort to know people.”

  1. “Relationship with his recruiter?” hmm. I’ll refrain from making the “Morehouse is full of gay black men” joke.

  2. motivation you ask, thick atlanta area butts

Maybe his motivation was a quality education. As a student at Morehouse, I can tell you that is what got me here. It belittles the experience provided by the school and the character of someone that you DON’T EVEN KNOW to suggest otherwise. Is it so far of a stretch to think that a school like Morehouse would be the school of choice for a White man? And as far as the other comments…I’m sure that your not going to Morehouse had more to do with your abilities and the cost than anything else.

P.S. Spelman is spelled with one “l.” Maybe you were somewhere else…
