Stolen MacBook Victim Remotely Activates Webcam To Lead Police to The Thieves
Victim was able to Apple technology to take photos of the theives who were later apprehended

Edmon Shahikian and Ian Frias. SAY CHEESE!
Since we’re on the topic of criminal activity check this one out. A White Plains, NY woman who got jacked for her Apple MacBook, used the devices “Back To My Mac” screen sharing feature to remotely activate her laptop’s webcam feature and get flicks of the unsuspecting thieves while they were using her stolen merchandise. According to LoHud.com a Lower Hudson Valley, NY website, The victim, a tech savvy Apple Store employee was alerted by a co-worker who noticed her computer account was online. When she called the victim, she was able to quickly activate the screen share feature.
Initially she only saw an empty chair but eventually the suspects, could be seen sitting in front of her stolen laptop using the computer. The victim did not know either man but one of her roommates recognized them as attendees at an apartment shindig a few weeks before the burglary.
Edmon Shahikian, 23, and Ian Frias, 20 from the Bronx were arrested Wednesday. Police said they recovered most of the $5,000 worth of electronics stolen in the burglary including two laptops, two flat-screen televisions, two iPods, gaming consoles, DVDs and computer games.

FAKE
“the theives” are the thieves, I suppose… (for non-English people the difference is important
Anyway, this application should be available for PCs, too.
I think this is an announcement by Mac, a FAKE!
I’ve double checked and there indeed was a police report filed in Westchester county in New York. It does not indicate whether the merchandise was recovered however. So if it is a ploy by Apple to get folks to purchase the macs…its wasn’t by initial design.
why would ppl think this is fake? i know if someone stole my macbook, id think to do the same thing…
you’re probably in the minority.
My macbook was recently stolen can i remotely activate the webcam if so how?? can it be tracked any other way??
How do I use this mac back feature? My mac book was stolen yesterday
