Highbrid Nation Projects Barack Obama the Democratic Nominee

Posted by Juan

With just 217 delegates at stake and only six contests remaining, we project Obama the presumptive nominee. Unless there’s cheating.

Barack Obama

Tuesday, with Barack Obama’s scorching victory in North Carolina and a very narrow but well fought loss to Senator Hillary Clinton in Indiana, Highbrid Nation has officially announced that we have projected the Illinois Senator is the Democratic Party’s presumptive nominee.

The results from Tuesday’s primaries marked Clinton’s last stand with just 217 delegates at stake in the last six contests. Obama now has 1,876 total delegates to Clinton’s 1,729, still short of the 2,025 needed to clinch the nomination. However with so few delegates at stake, Clinton has no realistic chance to overtake Obama’s lead in pledged delegates or in popular votes won in the state-by-state battles for the nomination.

Although Hillary “not to be confused with Rocky Balboa” Clinton won’t throw in the towel, her efforts at this point are all but moot*. The Illinois senator’s clinching 14-point victory in North Carolina marked an decisive turn in an otherwise very difficult stretch since his bad loss in Pennsylvania last month and the histrionics surrounding Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

Realizing what we at Highbrid Nation have, Obama began shifting focus to the general election with his victory speech in North Carolina. “This fall, we intend to march forward as one Democratic Party, united by a common vision for this country,” the Illinois Senator proclaimed. Next up on the docket is the West Virginia primary next week, then May 20 in Oregon and Kentucky.

Highbrid Nation continues to prove to be the internet’s number one source for political analysis from the Hip Hop perspective. Since the Highbrid Nation Editorial Board endorsed Obama back in February he has taken control of this nomination race and as we have projected, is now the presumptive nominee. Is it safe to say that the HN endorsement was the deciding factor in Obama’s campaign success? You decide but the numbers don’t lie.

If you enjoy our coverage and analysis I invite you to check a recent interview entitled “RACE IN AMERICA” that I did for My Two Cents, a blog written by Highbrid Nation loyalist, Malcolm, where we tackled issues ranging from race to politics to why black men love big butts. Its a very interesting read (at least I think so.)

*SIDEBAR: There still remains a small chance that the Clinton campaign can cheat. The New York Sentator’s camp has been lobbying for a way to seat delegates from Michigan and Florida, states in which she scored resounding but invalid victories in January due to the fact the primary dates were changed against the approval of the National party. The only way for Clinton to somehow seat the delegates would be by a revote or some form of cheating.

Never doubt the Clintons. I feel she really has the potential to steal this from him. She has a team of the top political minds on the planet and if they didn’t beleive there was still a good chance she could win, she’d drop out. My guess is that she will at least strong arm her way into that VP slot.

Obama is like the glass of chocolate milk you have to send back at the restuarant like “There aint enough chocolate is this milk man!” I think the 1st black president should be darker skinned. My write-in vote goes to Wesley Snipes. He is used to balancing budgets the American way we are used to in this country and he sure is black enough for me.

Tell me you’re joking. He can’t get his taxes straight let alone balance a budget.

Ya, the sun is shining a little brighter today.

But I do have to tease you a bit. I called the nomination for Obama back in the beginning of December.

Also, now that the nomination is all but official, maybe people will appreciate my “Hillary Swan Song” video a little more..

Those were odds Malcolm lol. We’re actually calling the race! He’s the presumptive nominee. Video is great.
