Sharpton Organizes Civil ‘Pray-In’ Protest

Posted by Juan

Demonstrators will be arrested while praying on their knees in civil disobedient protest

Sean Bell Protest

Rev. Al “Captain African-America” Sharpton announced Saturday that he and hundreds of demonstrators will conduct a “pray-in” with designs of being arrested for civil disobedience while praying on their knees to protest the acquittals of three NYPD police officers acquitted of wrong-doing in the death of Sean Bell.

The “Captain” had previously promised to “close this city down” and the pray-in scheduled for this Wednesday at half a dozen undisclosed places in the city including the police headquarters is just the first step.  Sharpton said participants should gather at 3 p.m. in at least six places around the city and then fan out to undisclosed locations.

“Where we go from there is anybody’s guess,” Rachel Noerdlinger, Sharpton’s spokeswoman.  The “pray-in” is only the start of whatever actions are necessary to oppose the verdict.  “It’s going to be a long struggle, but the race isn’t given to the swift or the strong, but to those who endure,” Sharpton said.
