Eye-Fi Allows Digital Camera The Convenience of Wi-Fi Uploads

Posted by Juan

No more USB Cables

Eye-Fi

He already have wireless phones and wireless internet and now wireless cameras?  Well of course you don’t need a wire to take digital photos but until now you needed a USB cable to upload your photos to your computer.  Never again.

Check out the new Eye-fi SD memory card.  It not only stores 2 Gigs worth of flicks but it’ll shoot that media to your computer, Flickr, Facebook or Picasa wirelessly. All you do is establish the settings once using the provided USB card reader which configures the wireless network.  Then you choose the photo sharing service of your choice, you got 20 or so to choose from, then you slide it in your camera and you’re done.  Next time your cameras is detected by your wireless network, Eye-fi will upload all your photos to your selected online sharing service and the next time you boot your computer it’ll download there as well.

Its a pretty useful upgrade to the traditional SD card.  I’m not sure but it should work for your SD enabled mobile devices like a Treo granting you tremendous convenience.  It’s a little pricey at $99 but I’m sure it’ll drop with time and newer models and competitors flood the market.   Shout to JRei360 (Highbrid Nation since 2007) for the heads up.
