NY Post: Sharpton, Obama Fight Over Protests of Sean Bell Verdict. Sharpton Camp Denies

Posted by Juan

How can a paper of such stature maintain credibility with such garbage?

Obama And Sharpton

The New York Post (which I don’t trust already) has reported that Rev. Al “Captain African-America” Sharpton had a verbal altercation over the phone with Sen. Barack Obama regarding his plans to protest the acquittal in the Sean Bell case.Chuck Bennett and Kavita Mokha quote sources as saying Sharpton was “infuriated” by Obama’s petition to protest nonviolently and subsequently accused the Illinois Democrat of trying to “grandstand in front of white people.”

Regardless of whether that was said or not. How could individuals so disloyal as to leak this type of information to the press be so close to either Obama or Sharpton. It is not clear from which side the source came however I wouldn’t doubt given the Post’s track record that it didn’t originate from somewhere inside the Post’s newsroom. “IT’S IN MY NOTES GUS!!!”

“Everything stated in the New York Post regarding yesterday’s conversation between Senator Obama and Reverend Sharpton is false, and is either a fabrication of the Post journalists who wrote the story or the supposed unnamed source for the story,” claimed Charlie King, Acting National Director for the National Action Network. “In my view, there is a big difference between tabloid journalism and shoddy journalism. This story is clearly the latter and is unacceptable.

“For the record, Reverend Sharpton and Senator Obama had a good conversation yesterday about the need to address both police misconduct and reducing crime. As with the numerous conversations they have, it was friendly, respectful and substantive.”

According to King, Rev. Sharpton was alone during his telephone conversation with Sen. Obama. So unless there’s a mole in the Obama executive camp or someone’s tapping the phones…I’m finding very little credibility in this story. This is what happens when a black man runs for president. He has denounce everyone until he’s blue in the face and read in the newspaper everyday about things he supposedly did and said. Imagine when he wins the election…read my posts on the nooses and the racists cartoons. Believe me racism is alive and well.

I feel you. I wasn’t in agreement before but he does need to shut up especially since he thinks they’re still on good terms.

No, don’t blame this clash of egos on racism. If Obama and Sharpton have a problem with each other - and it sounds like they do - then blame those two and their staffs.

I don’t like either of them, but Sharpton is an old pro at what he does. Why is it so hard to believe that one or both of them has some disgruntled volunteer or secretary leaking or selling info?

For the last time, black people, White America does not have a conspiracy to sabotage everything you do.

Whoa whoa Lyn…no one is talking about sabotage. The facts are what the facts are. The Post has a long history of fabricating and stretching the truth. They often even superimpose images on thier front cover to further fictionalize their news stories.
Obama and Shaprton are NOT ENEMIES…fact! They may not kick back and throw down a beer but they’re cool. No one is saying Obama is being somehow sabotaged. I’m as cynical as anyone you’ll find on this forum but it’s silly to see a black man put in positions NO OTHER MAN in the history of this country has ever been put in just because he’s running for presidential office.
Like or dislike him…those are the hard and fast truths.
