MARKETING MATTERS: Beyonce and Ellen DeGeneres launch New American Express Commercial

Posted by Juan

Spot is the latest installment of the “Are you a Cardmember?” campaign and spell more bread for each.

Ellen and Beyonce

American Express released it’s newest installment to the “Are you a Cardmember?” campaign, featuring talk show host and lesbian rights advocate, Ellen DeGeneres and Mrs. Beyonce Knowles Carter, on Monday. In the spot, Ellen is looking for her “people” as Beyoncé encourages Ellen to “have your people call my people” to get tickets to her upcoming concert.

The campaign is in effort to help promote Amex’s guide and portal to a wide variety of premium access and early on-sale offers to shows, events and experiences in everything from arts and theater, to music, sports, and film.

In addition to the television spot, two print advertisements, shot by legendary photographer Annie Leibovitz, portray Ellen as a ventriloquist and a “one man band,” capture her personal feelings about entertainment that are central to her life. The new television spot and print advertisements will debut in major broadcast outlets and weekly magazines this week.

Sorry…video won’t embedd. Here is the clip

Yea, I saw that Ad on YouTube… was very disappointed… that its not getting the number of views that it deserves. If you see videos for Beyonce, they have over 500 million views alone on YouTube and videos of Ellen are about 50million. Yea, I know you might be wondering how can I calculate all the views for all the videos of Beyonce or Ellen or American Express. I use Scope, the amazing video measurement and engagement platform by divinity Metrics.

How is it possible that Amex cannot even get 50k views when their Brand ambassadors get 500m and 50m views respectively???? This is sheer waste of Marketing dollars… does american express really care about promoting their new ad? or just let it die in the online world?
