NO SOUL TRAIN AWARDS THIS YEAR

Posted by Juan

R.I.P. To The Soul Train Franchise?

Soul Train Awards

According to Reuters Life the Soul Train Music Awards has been zapped without explanation. The award show, a favorite of Soul Train’s founder, Don Cornelius’ was to celebrate its 22nd consecutive award show this year but that streak has apparently ended.

Some speculate a recent decline in celebrity attendance as the reason for the cancellation. Many of last year’s winners failed to show up at the show which was held in Pasadena, including Beyonce Knowles, Mary J. Blige, John Legend and Gnarls Barkley.

Will this spell the end of “Soul Train” entirely? Without the awards show and the regular television program which was canceled in 2006 we could be witnessing the end of an era.

  1. I cannot remember the last time I watched Soul Train. Matter of fact, I don’t remember the last time I turned to channel 11.

    O.K., what’s the Mets connection?

Most of these music awards shows suck now.

Yall stop tripping, Soul Train will go down as one the baddest shows ever for people of Color. What can this era say to match that? American Idol who?

  5. Good point…very good point.
