R.I.P. Wayne “Frosty Freeze” Frost

We’ve lost a Hip Hop Legend.

Frosty Freeze

We’d be remised if we didn’t mention the passing of Hip Hop pioneer, Wayne “Frosty Freeze” Frost of the legendary Rock Steady Crew. He died last Thursday due to AIDS related complications.

Frost was best known for his breaking skills as a member of the RSC and his trademark move, “The Suicide”, aka “The Death Freeze Drop.” However most people don’t know he was also an accomplished graffiti artist. If you’re not up on Frosty Freeze, the Rock Steady Crew or breaking for that matter, make sure you peep Flashdance, Wild Style , Style Wars or Africa Bambatta’s music video “Planet Rock“ for some samples of my man’s work.

In 2004, he along with several other members of RSC were honored at the VH-1 Hip Hop Honors. His legacy lives on…Rest In Peace.  There will be a Memorial Jam this Friday, APRIL 11 at the Goddard Riverside Center (647 Columbus Ave betw. 91st & 92nd. NYC) Its going to be an upbeat affair celebrating Frosty’s life. The Jam starts at 10AM.
