Earlier this week, Verizon Wireless released a study indicating that in February, its customers sent and received more than 20 Billion Text Messages more than double what was exchanged last June.  This is crazy.

“The volume of text messages being sent and received by Verizon Wireless customers is growing exponentially,” said Mike Lanman, chief marketing officer of Verizon Wireless. “Whether it’s sports scores, news updates, the latest weather forecast, or the ‘joke of the day’, text messages are a tremendous way for anyone to stay on top of what’s happening in the world.

Its interesting, a few years ago everyone would have told you that the way in which people process the most information was through their computer.  With the advancements in cellular/ digital technology that is no longer the case.  Although laptops are portable, bringing a computer with you everywhere is just not practical.  Wi-Fi hotspotting has been a technological disappointment so increasingly people are turning to their phones to feed their information hunger.  Not only can you browse the net but text your friends, co-workers or even your favorite microblog.
