MARKETING MATTERS: Rihanna/ Chris Brown Rumors still Swirl, Could Even A Fabricated Fling Mean Cha-Ching?
The Business and Marketing Implications of their rumored relationship
Rihanna remains adamant that there is nothing going on between the sheets with singer Chris Brown. She tells MTV: “I won’t say that we’re just friends. Me and Chris are really best, best friends. We both started our careers around the same time. He is one of the only people in the industry … I trust and hang out with all the time. We are best friends, honestly, like brother and sister. If he was a boyfriend, I would say that.”
Who knows what’s really going on between the two of them? Maybe a little petting? Some fondling? Hell maybe they’ve even slept with each other. HOWEVER…from a business and marketing perspective, this would be a HUGE look for both parties. Think the new and younger Beyonce and Jay-Z here As Rihanna stated in her quote, they both hit the scene around the same time. They’re both two of the industries power brokers creating a monopoly on music sales and endorsements. Rihanna already has major deals with Totes, Nike and J.C. Penney while Brown’s acting prowess has become in higher demand. Get this dude was ranked by VH1 the top celebrity under 30 ahead of LEBRON JAMES! A relationship between the two, even if fabricated would only further through gasoline on an already blazing popularity bonfire.
