MARKETING MATTERS: The PS3, PSP and EA Sports “Burnout” Star in Wyclef’s New Video ‘Fast Cars’

Posted by Juan

The creative partnership with Sony and EA Games affords Wyclef some serious creative license

I was just telling you about Hip Hop (and music for that matter) turning to partnerships with Corporate America to achieve a mutual common good. The Latest: Sony with its PLAYSTATION3 and PSP have teamed up with Electronic Arts (EA), the makers of the game “Burnout” to provide the creative backdrop for Wyclef’s music video “Fast Car.

Using some really dope and creative graphics technique Clef, who also directed the video, is able to use the PS3 and PSP as his prespective as he “drives” the video’s storyline which takes place inside the “Burnout.” The video is available today for high-definition download on Playstation’s online marketplace.
“The PlayStation brand and Burnout Paradise fit perfectly with my vision for the ‘Fast Car’ music video,” Clef said in the press release. “‘Fast Car’ is like life — the pace of life is moving so fast, where you can burn yourselves out at times. The concept was about taking a song with such meaning and combining it with technology, but still keeping the essence of what we’re talking about and getting kids to listen to that message.”

I could have sworn he released this video before…maybe he didn’t tell Sony.

  1. Wyclef seems to have a habit of rereleasing singles. He did the same thing with that “If I were President” Song.

  2. If he can get away with it and put a new spin on it I’m for it.

No matter how much people don’t like dude the corporate folks seem to give him a lot of play.
