MARKETING MATTERS: Prodigy Signs Cross-Promo Deal with Sandisk’s Sansa

Posted by Juan

TV Commercials will promote new MP3 players and plug P’s H.N.I.C. 2 album

Prodigy

As artists and their management are finally starting to figure out what I’ve been saying for years we’re beginning to see more and more creative corporate partnerships in music.  Late yesterday Prodigy, one half Mobb Deep, announced that he has inked a deal with Sandisk, makers of those high powered memory cards you might have in your Treo or digital camera.  P will be featured in the company’s new ad campaign for their new Sansa FUZE (their answer to the iPod) as well as their e-commerce hub shopSansa.com.

The unique thing about the TV ads is that not only will P help brand Sansa but also plug his new release H.N.I.C. Part 2 as part of the cross -promotion agreement.

Prodigy has promised fans his new effort will bring back the raw that made him one of the illest emcees alive.  Alchemist and Havoc are said to have handled a bulk of the album which is being released by VOXONIC MUSIC & AAO Music /Reality.  Look for the commercials to hit MTV, BET, VH1 and a couple others very soon.

“I am excited to be working with Sansa, a SanDisk creation and ShopSansa.com. The Sansa brand is known for being a leader in digital entertainment and producing cutting edge products. I am proud to be associated with ShopSansa.com.”

You better be excited P!  This is your first corporate deal (as far as I can remember.)  Plus not only do you get to pump to some product you’ll never use but you can plug your project in the process.  Best of both worlds.  Thumbs up!
