Russell Simmons Launches Voter’s Registration Campaign
Campaign targeted at up to 20,000 of Pennsylvania’s Youngest Voters
Russell Simmons is back on his political soap box, this time hoping to register thousands of Pennsylvania citizens to vote in anticipation of the state’s pivitol April 22 primary. His program, called “Hip-Hop Team Vote: Turn up the Vote” campaign plans to use public service announcements from Will Smith, Jay-Z, LL Cool J, Wyclef Jean and other celebs to register 15,000 to 20,000 voters before tomorrow (Monday’s) deadline.
“We know that young people answer the call,” Simmons said further admitting that the campaign was designed to target people ages 18-35. “We know that at this critical time our country needs new leadership with new ideas.” Without publicly indicating so, the campaign is likely to assist Barack Obama in his quest for the Democratic Nomination as young voters is a base that he has continuously carried throughout the primary process. I personally like the approach although I often question Simmons’ current motives. I think creating an unbiased campaign not only helps support HIS candidate but is productive in expanding the political conscious of the American public.

I don’t know, but if Good ol’ Russ already endorsed someone, then it seems bias to launch a (non-bias) campaign. I may be wrong…..probaly.
