When I See Obama, The First Thing I Think Is “Oreo”

Posted by Mike "Evorgleb" Belgrove

…I’m talking about cookies here.

Just Yesterday Barack Obama gave a defining speech in his presidential campaign. After being bombarded with critics connecting him to his pastor Rev. Wright, Obama decided to take approach the issue of race head on. His inspiring heart filled speech had him speakin of his own mixed heritage being born of a black father and white mother. His speech was seen on television but also streamed online by sites such as MSNBC.com who ran the footage live next to a very suspect advertisement. Take a look for yourself…

Does anyone else think it’s funny that they would run the Oreo ads given Barack’s subject matter? Racially charged advertising?

  1. Nani says:

I would not want to make an Oreo comparison or even slightly suggest. An oreo is someone that looks black and acts white. Similar saying for Asians, “twinkie” looks yellow or asian but acts white. Makes me nervous. I am so glad that Black people have not been questioning his “Blackness”. I hope no subtle messages were sent with that ad.

  2. I think that all falls into algorithmic taxonomy. Perhaps there are keywords in his speech that were picked up by the programs that choose ads and it so happened that they had Oreo as one of the sponsors associated with those keywords.

I would hope that the folk would know better than to associate the two, trying to send subliminal messages.

  3. TP says:

what the heck is acting black, white, or asian? This statement itself is assinine and racist.
