Ed Norton’s Class 5 Films Shopping Obama Documentary Flick

Posted by Juan

You’ll be surprised how long the cameras have been rolling.

Ed Norton

Yesterday Mike brought you the trailer for The Incredible Hulk staring Edward Norton . Today The Daily Variety is reporting that the actor and now producer and his Class 5 Films are looking for offers for his documentary about the historic presidential campaign of Sen. Barack Obama. Ed Norton huh?

It looks Norton got lucky on this one because his directors Amy Rice and Alicia Sams actually began shooting before Obama declared candidacy and long before he would actually make noise as a viable contender and now front runner for the Democratic Nomination.

So I know what you’re asking…is this another Obama love fest? Well Norton says his motivation was not to glorify Obama but the idea was conceived after Obama’s memorable address to the Democratic National Convention back in 2004.

“We were all so struck by Barack’s speech [that he and his Class 5 partners Bill Migliore and Stuart Blumberg and the directors] talked about how exciting it was to see someone from our generation, not our parents’, make his presence felt in such an inspiring way,” Norton told Daily Variety. “At the time, he was the new senator from Illinois. None of us had voted for him or contributed to his campaigns. None of us was saying, ‘I want to back this guy for president.’ It was more this generational experience, of seeing someone we felt represented us in a very unique and fresh way, and the desire to explore what would happen to the first person our age who staked a claim to national leadership.”

Talk about foresight and intuition. Looks like they’ll have a winner regardless of the outcome in November. Naturally Norton said the filmmakers will follow Obama through the duration of his White House run.

  1. they should see if they can drum up the money for a october release. That would be the ultimate promotion for Obama.

Ok now what makes this “historic”? Why a documentary? Maybe its because he is the FIRST black man that had a legitimate shot at the white house? Hmmm….

    • Remember Nani, Norton started rolling the cameras long before he became a legitimate candidate. He just thought he was an interesting subject that would be appealing for people to learn about as he decided to run for president but no one expected him to still be in the race let alone be winning it.

Not interesting Juan, “historic” is what I commented on. And actually I would like to say something about about Highbrid Nation in general because I feel that you and I have a little debate going. I come to this site for 2 reasons, to support the owners and for information that interests me. I am not a woman that watches Oprah, looks for fashion tips, and I don’t believe everything I hear on the news or any form of news media. I say that to say there are all kinds of women and so far the content on this site that interests me are the editorial like pieces. I don’t degrade or bash people that have thoughts that differ from mine. I may comment on the arguments made but never someone’s intelligence or character. Everyone’s thoughts count and contribute even the so called “ignorant” ones. As much as I want to come to this site I feel like the neutral content or editorials are mostly written from one perspective with the intent to acknowledge only one perspective. It is a blog not an open discussion of thoughts and I understand why the perspective may seem one sided. When the site recognizes and allows multiple views, the comments and discussions will be more energized and interesting. Let me know when it happens.
