R.I.P. The Greatest Drama Series of All Time: ‘The Wire’ Obituary (No Spoilers)
Feel Free to share your Eulogy

Yeah Clay its over and you’ll soon be relegated to McDonald’s Commercials
Later in the week I’ll post up my thoughts on the final episode of what I believe to be the greatest television drama in the history of Television and the undisputed best written show of all times…The Wire.
To little Hollywood Fanfare, you, the HBO outcast played out your final episode last night after 5 action packed and intense seasons. You were criticized by the networks brass for lacking “crossover” success which was attributed to your lukewarm ratings and ultimately your premature demise. Many of us grew to love and cherrish you as you. We welcomed you into our living rooms every Sunday night (or for those like me who couldn’t wait, early Monday Morning on HBO On-Demand.)
But most of all we came to love, hate and KNOW your cast…a cast we’ll sorely miss. Although the actors that portrayed them will move on to other shows, commercials, Broadway plays and retirement there is little chance that most of them will ever adorn the rockstar pedistal that we put them on while being part of this hit drama. So we bid you farewell good friend…I’m sure we’ll honor your legend in years to come by continuing to discuss your many episodes and watching your memorial DVD. You were great. R.I.P.
We welcome your Eulogy…but please be respectful of other mourners and keep it short.Â

I didn’t know The Wire, but came to understand that it’s life was cut to short. I hear of your impact to the community through those that knew you close and regret not getting to know you……Let me stop. I didn’t see it due to lack of cable for a while and plain old ignorance. I saw 1 episode and was captivated by it’s truth and grittiness. Trust me I will be getting the DVDs and wtching it from epi 1, (not from BET where I will not get the full effect)
Later
I’ve known the wire since it was a child on “the corners” so to see it grow into what it has become is amazing but all good things must come to an end… Thank you for showing us the reality of the world we live in, how important it is to make good decisions & for reminding us to think & never take life for granted. It may be years before your true impact & beauty are fully recognized & you get the acclaim & honors that you truly deserve, but hey “Deserve got nuthin’ to do with it…”
R.I.P. Omar, Boddie, Prop Joe, Stringer Bell, Snoop, Wallace, De Angelo and all the others who got merked before their time
Don’t forget Cheese and Little Kevin.
Butchie…my bad.

sad to see it come to an end. television like that allows you to release for a minute pauso, watch that shit, feel like u know the characters. Over the course of time u know next season be comin’ but damn….
Greatest show ever. I hope the actors don’t get caught up and can’t do any more roles outside of the wire
Just when it was getting good and your waiting for another season, HBO pulls the plug on “The Wire”. I was alittle dissappointed by the series finale but such is life. Congrats to All that made the Wire what it was. Life in B-More. Another good series bites the dust. RIP !!!!!
