Apple and Nike Renew Love For Each Other
Apple and Nike plan on taking their Nike+ service to the next level.
Did you know Nike and Apple and had a partnership for some time now? The to ginormous (yes it is a word) corporations have teamed up in the past to create Nike+ which allowed people to put a little device into their running shoes and track their stats such as laps and run time through their iPod Nanos.
I’m not sure how much of a success Nike+ was but looks like it was enough of one to warrant the project to continue. Now Apple and Nike are talking with various equipment makers to have them allow iPod to communicate with workout equipment the same way it communicates with your shoes. So, for instance, you may be able to get on a rowing machine and have your rows counted by your iPod Nano. Then when you are done, take your Nano home and upload the info to your home computer to keep track of your workouts.
Seems interesting enough but there are so many different companies making workout equipment it’s hard to imagine the average person encountering a gym with many exercise pieces they can track with Nike+. Though, even if you can’t hook your iPod up to your treadmill, you can at least still bang that new Rick Ross.
