Sean Bell Trial Begins
R.I.P.
Yesterday (February 25th) opening arguments begin in the Shooting Death of Sean Bell. His wife Nicole took the stand and described the night her husband to be was murdered and how she discovered the news. The Prosecutor in the trial Charles A. Testagrossa called the shooting unjustified “The story of how this tragedy occurred is a tale of carelessness,†he said, adding that the shooting “can only be characterized as criminal.â€
The Trial is being tried by a judge as the officers who are being charged chose this option as opposed to being tried by a jury. Defense attorneys paint a different picture of that tragic night. James J. Culleton, defense lawyer for detective Micheal Oliver who fired at Bell and his associates 31 times , offered a very different account. “You’re going to hear two completely different stories,†he told the judge. “One supporting execution and one supporting justification.â€
I Encourage the entire Highbrid Nation to keep an eye on this story and although were not a news site per say we’ll do our best to keep you updated as well. I suggest following this story via the NY Times Blog
