BUSINESS MATTERS: Obama Good For Business?
Not All Good For Big Business
Last week Business Week magazine examined the economic impact that a “President” Obama would have on business….BIG business. Although the article is careful to note that the Illinois senator maintains a close knit network of key business tycoons including Robert Wolf, CEO of UBS, billionaire Warren Buffett and former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker, it was quick to not that not all of corporate America is waiving the Obama Flag.
“It would be a pragmatic, center-left administration,” says Democratic political strategist Steve McMahon, who is unaligned with a Presidential candidate this year. “[Senator Obama has] been pretty clear that business would have a seat at the table, but business wouldn’t be able to buy all the chairs.”
In his most recent op-ed, Robb Mandelbaum of Inc.com was even slightly critical of Obama’s Ecconomic Agenda. You can read it if you’d like…its a little boring. But the bottom line is this as a small business owner…his effect economically will be negligible at best. But as a private middle-class citizen, the noose will most certainly loosen. Corporate big business has exceedingly flourished under the Bush/Republican administration…a gravy train that one way or another is sure to derail regardless of the new chief.
