If at first you don’t succeed try, try again. Apparently Brian Purvis of the infamous Jena Six WANTED to get locked up and overzealous bloggers like me other civil rights activist and the thousands who marched on his behalf foiled his plan.

In his latest attempt, Purvis now 19 was arrested and charged with assault stemming from incident in which he allegedly choked a student and then pushed his head into a bench, bruising his eye. According to police Purvis confronted the student who he accused of vandalizing his car.

According to police the incident did not appear to be a racially motivated or related to the “Jena Six” case. Of course not. its motivated by the stupidity of a dumbass.” As my homegirl, Laura at Pursuing Holiness, did an excellent job of pointing a few months back, the Jena case became national headlines because bloggers, the internet’s tastemakers made it so. Deep down we didn’t care about the subjects involved we saw a case of possible racism and pounced on this little town. But as Mr. Purvis has done such a great job of pointing out…he and perhaps some of his other cohorts were bad seeds. Did they deserve they’re punishment? Perhaps not but they definately didn’t deserve the attention nor the stage.
