Bad Boy Promotes Harve Pierre to President
Alterior Motives?
Sean John Combs announced that he is promoting his old Howard University buddy, Harve Pierre, to president of Bad Boy Records. He will still report to the newly renamed one but will oversee the finance, creative, promotional, marketing, A&R, international, and sales divisions of Bad Boy. In addition, his Crazy Joint production outfit will finally be housed by Bad Boy allowing his team to develop artists and projects under the company umbrella.
“Harve’s promotion to President is well deserved” says combs. “He has been with Bad Boy since the beginning and has worked hard to learn all aspects of the business. He has always been an important part of the A&R process and it is only fitting that Bad Boy would house his imprint, Crazy Joint.”
The announcement comes at a curious time. In 2002, Pierre was a big part of the “Making The Band 2,” for two seasons and has had scenes in subsequent shows. We all know Puffy only does things for the sake of promotion and with the new season debuting last week, I wonder if the announcement isn’t in attempt to draw more attention to…himself…again.
