These days classic hip hop records are few and far between. Its not just about the quality emcee anymore. Like it was in the 80′s the producer (DJ) was and is the most important element of the hip hop. It takes a rare breed of emcee to bring a flavor packed looped 16 instrumental to life. The consequence of this unsuccessful marriage is apparent in the wack dripped game today…blazing hot tracks fermented by limp dick rhymes. This series celebrates the former giving a stage to the behind the scenes magic that occurs when Boy meets Beats.
Future Hall of Famer, Jay-Z has has had the opportunity to work with some of the best producers that ever did it from DJ Premier to Timberland but also crafted classics from lesser known producers like “A Kid Called Roots.” Now by now we all know about Jay’s unique ability to lay a track without ever writing down a lyric. Check how he came upon some of the classics we still bump in the deck today.
