Verizon drops Venturi Mini allowing cutomers to stream calls and music through car speakers
Usefull or another fruadulent FM transmitter device?
Verizon Wireless announced yesterday that its customers can now begin streaming music and telephone calls through their car stereo with the new Venturi Mini from NextGen Venturi. The Venturi is a plug and play car audio FM transmitter that streams VCast music and calls from stereo Bluetooth enabled music phones through any in-car stereo system.
As a Verizon customer it sounds enticing but unless they’ve somehow been able to improve the quality of FM transmitting, I’m not buying it. Apple has a similar product out where you can listen to your iPod through the car stereo and it’s nothing short of useless. Not only is the sound quality incredibly diminished but other vehicles can interfere with your signal which obviously could be a bad look for an important telephone call.
One cool feature is that if a call come through while the music is playing, the music pauses allowing you to answer the call hands-free. The song resumes once the call is complete, without having to touch any buttons. The unit sells for $129.99 online at verizonwireless.com. The jury is still out however on the sound quality.
