MARKETING MATTERS: Gatorade’s, D. Wade & Jeter to appear in G2 Launch ads during Superbowl
Looking to build viral buzz, Gatorade leaked teaser ads online
Gatorade has announced that they will launch a full-scale ad campaign during Super Bowl XLII to support G2, their new low-calorie lifestyle beverage. In a press release posted late Wednesday, G2 revealed that it had begun running :15 teaser ads featuring the legs and feet of two different athletes walking in street clothes in an unidentified city. As they walk their feet seem to transform the street into a baseball field or basketball court. The G2 Super Bowl commercials will reveal that the athletes are in fact Derek Jeter and Dwyane Wade, two current endorsers of Gatorades flagship brand.
Curious of how quickly Gatorade’s marketing team/ ad agency would attempt to “leak” the ads on YouTube I did a quick search. Naturally brand new user “G2videos” posted them this afternoon to coinside with the press release.
Sidenote: The Gatorade Marketing team has been into some dirty ish as there’s been some buzz up in Detroit about this recent ad where Jeter seems to win a game against Todd Jones and the Tigers. The video looks real but in fact never happened, somehow Jones and shortstop Jose Guillen were dubbed in for the dejection factor.
Anyway here are the videos that I dug up.
Here’s the Jeter teaser…
Now here’s a preview of the Superbowl Ad
