Now that Highbrid Nation has some clout, I really got start going to some of these upcoming conventions. I feel like I’m really missing out on things. For instance AllHipHop Dr. Dre along with Jimmy Iovine will be showing up at CES to debut a new product from Monster Cable. Since when did the Consumer Electronics Show become a star studded event?

I’m not sure what type of product but I’m not expecting anything too big because Monster Cable generally makes high end cables and that’s pretty much it. It’ll be interesting to see if they paid Dre to get up on stage and say, “look at this wire ya’ll” but we’ll see. Seems like even though Monster doesn’t really make flashy products they don’t hold back at CEC. Word has it, they brought in Mary J. Blige to perform at the show as well.

Another interested tidbit to this story is that Dr. Dre’s 23 year old daughter Manaj will be on hand also pushing her new DVD which is about her trying to break into the music industry against her father’s best wishes. I had no idea he had a kid that old.

UPDATE: It turns out that the product that Dre and Monster worked on together is a pair of headphones (how exciting). From what I understand Dre and Monster have been developing these headphones for several years.

Monster claims the headphones will “allow listeners to experience the full dynamic range, low bass punch and clarity intended by producers.”

They will accomplish that through a new technology which provide “remarkably natural sound, incredible transient response and rich, deep bass.”

So there you have it, Dre’s headphones. So would now be the time for me to talk about how I lost respect for Dr. Dre after I found out he was taking other producers’ beats and putting his name on them?
