Aspiring Teachers get your FREE College Education Here!

Posted by Juan

Clemson’s Call Me M.I.S.T.E.R. Program offers Free Ride with Teaching Fellows program.

Who Knows You Could Become Denzel

Gary Bevel at Young Black Professional (YBP) put me on to this particular program but there are many like it across the country.  If you know or happen to be a black male High School student please listen up.  If you’ve ever considered going to college in South Carolina, or want to pursue a teaching career or are wondering how you will pay for college the “Call Me M.I.S.T.E.R.” may be ticket to a FREE higher education.

According to their Website “The mission of the Call Me M.I.S.T.E.R. (acronym for Mentors Instructing Students Toward Effective Role Models) National Initiative is to increase the pool of available teachers from a broader more diverse background particularly among the State’s lowest performing elementary schools”

The program (which infers being aimed at minority candidates) is initiated through Clemson University however is combined with the individualized instructional programs offered by four historically black colleges in South Carolina: Benedict College, Claflin University, Morris College and South Carolina State University. In all there are 10 different South Carolina institutions to choose from that participate in the program.

New York City has a similar Teaching Fellows Program if you attend a CUNY school but I’ve heard mixed reports from those who participated.  However if you’re considering a career in teaching at any level or are undecided and would benefit from pursuing such a career path while receiving a free ride do some quick online research about similar programs in your area or where you intend to go to school.  If you Google, search “Teaching Fellows Programs.
