Cops & Feds use Myspace Content to Launch Criminal Investigations
My Advice: If you Do Dirt Stay off of Myspace with it
We’ve talked at length about the applications of social networking tools in the professional workplace. Human resource departments have publicly been using sites like Myspace as part of their background check into new hires. Prospective employees with offensive pages or sexually explicit content on their pages are deemed a risk to large corporations and can be weeded out with a simple Myspace search.
Well it looks like Law Enforcement is also getting lazy down with social networking. Bored law enforcement agents are now spending hours on the computer trying to hunt down taggers and bombers by matching up their identity on their Myspace pages. Smoke trees? You definitely don’t want to take display pics of you and friends engaging in this illicit activity. Although photos on your Myspace or Facebook can’t be used as evidence in prosecution it can be a source to open an investigation.
My advice? STAY OFF THE SPACE. If you MUST use it, be mindful that its not just some fat butt shorties that are taking a look at your page. It might be your boss or worst yet the pigs and Feds so keep it PG. Peep the video from a news report about more on social networking.
