Frank Lucas Lied To Hollywood?! American Gangster an inaccurate Fairy Tale?!

Frank was Bumpy’s Driver but was he his Confidant?
According to a credible source, Frank Lucas, the Harlem Heroin kingpin portrayed by Denzel Washington in the upcoming movie, American Gangster, is liar. The source? Mayme Johnson the widow of the infamous Harlem gangster Elsworth “Bumpy” Johnson and the man whom Lucas says was his mentor and who taught him everything he knows. The 93 year old woman has become enraged over what she deems graphic inaccuracies about her husband and Lucas’ relationship.
“Frank wasn’t nothing but a flunky, and one that Bumpy never did really trust. Bumpy would let Frank drive him around, but you’d better believe that he was never in any important meetings or anything. Bumpy figured Frank as a liar, and he would say you can trust a thief quicker than a liar, because a thief steals because he needs money, while a liar lies for the hell of it.”
Johnson is particularly upset about Lucas’ claim that Bumpy died in his arms. Lucas, she says, was nowhere around the night that Bumpy died from a heart attack while dining at the famous Wells Restaurant on Seventh Avenue in Harlem. She says Lucas probably thought he could get away with the lie because he figured everyone who was around Bumpy at the time is now dead.
“Junie Byrd‘s gone, Nat Pettigrew‘s gone, Sonny Chance is gone, and Finley Hoskin‘s gone. Frank would never have said any garbage like that if one of them were alive because he’d know they’d come after him…I bet he thought I was gone, too, but I’m not. I’m 93, and I don’t have Alzheimer’s or dementia, and I’m not senile. Frank Lucas is a damn liar and I want the world to know it.”
Johnson feels that Lucas was able to fool Hollywood and says if he lied about his relationship with Bumpy there’s no telling what else he may have lied about in the movie. And to address these and other inaccuracies about her late husband who was immortalized in the 1997 Movie Hoodlum, she is writing a book entitled Harlem Godfather: The Rap on my Husband, Ellsworth “Bumpy” Johnson.
Damn and we thought it was the guys like Frank Lucas, Bumpy and Nicky Barnes that was gangsta with it. It goes to show that only a gangsta chick can hold down a true gangsta dude. Wow…gotta love it.

Of course the movie is fiction thats why its called Hollywood and they say “Based on a true story” instead if saying “This is the story” or the “Autobiography” Thats why I’m going to see the Dame Dash “Mr Untouchable” b/c thats a documentary more factual.
As if the whole story of this worthless bastard’s life,or any life of any Harlem “gangster” , is worth telling in the first place. No Black “gangster” has ever been anywhere as important or substantive,as any White,or Jewish one. Political Correctness DEMANDS their stories be told. And, given Hollywood’s PC, the stories will be grossly exaggerrated to far more important, greater, significant,etc, than they actually were.
Sorry D(ic)K but we go watch the movie because its entertaining. Although Frank Lucas, As BET’s series on American Gansters pointed out is often a fabricator of the truth…what is real is he supplied the mafia with thier dope.
Bumpy Johnson as is documented punked Dutch Shultz and took it to Lucky Luciano some of NY’s most feared Organized Crime bosses.
I don’t know what you’re talking about but if you don’t believe that Lucas held weight and his story is only being told cause of his skin, Go ask the Gambinos, The Columbos and Rudy Guliani who may become the next president off of the strength of the convictions he brought against OC from Lucas and guys like Nicky Barnes. HOWEVER THE REAL OFFICER RICHIE ROBERTS PORTRAYED BY RUSSEL CROWE NOT ONLY SAID IN AN “AMERICAN GANGSTER” MOVIE SPECIAL WHICH AIRED ON BET THAT NOT ONLY DID FRANK SNITCH, HE DID SO ON OVER 100 HUSTLERS ON HIS LEVEL AND ABOVE, ROBERTS ALSO SAID HE EVEN TURNED ON HIS THAILAND HEROIN CONNECT. HE NEVER DID TESTIFY BECAUSE THEY ALL COPPED OUT FOR A LESSSER TERM INSTEAD OF TAKING IT TO TRIAL AND GETTING NATURAL LIFE OR EVEN DEATH.
THE MOVIE I THINK WAS MADE FOR THE ENTERTAINEMENT ASPECT AND BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT HE DID HAVE THE PUREST HERON SHIPPED FROM VIETNAM IN DEAD VETS COFFINS. BUT LIKE RAPPERS HIS STORY IS FABRICATED.

Ice agreed. I think 4PL made the same type comment. I just saw the movie this weekend and its very apparent they made Frank to be more suave than he actually was. Dude couldn’t even read or write or count cash. He weighed it. I think as far as the snitching, I think that’s the reality of turning states, you never really know who he gave up.

Everybody knows lucas lied. Bumpy johnson was in prsion for 15 served 10 of those supposedly driven by lucas years in the pen. So unless he was golf cart driver for the prison he wasn’t driving miss daisy. He only served 4 years of his 70 year sentence snitchn buys a lot of time off.
