End of the Road

Sorry Yankees fans, Alex Rodriguez has opted out of his $252 million, 10-year contract with the Yankees. The announcement was made on Sunday just hours before the Bomber’s hated rivals the Boston Red Sox completed their World Series sweep of Colorado.

Apparently A-Rod’s, agent Scott Boras attempted to personally notify Yankees general manager Brian Cashman of the decision but couldn’t reach him, so he left a voice mail.

VOICEMAIL?! Geeze, that’s like finding out your wife is leaving you through Instant Message. Geeze! Where was Cashman anyway? Perhaps he was too busy, I think that’s the theme here…Too busy. The Yankees have been too busy worrying about about everyone else to pay attention to what’s been going on in their own house. Hell that’s why Andy Pettite walked away the first time, Why Joe Torre gave them the stiff arm last week and ultimately why the fans may do the same as the team erects a new stadium across the street.

Rodriguez defaults the $72 million guaranteed salary from his original Texas contract. And the Yankees had said they would not attempt to re-sign A-Rod if he opted out because they would have and have lost the $21.3 million subsidy from the Rangers.

Upon hearing the news, Hank Steinbrenner, son of principal owner George sent a scathing message Rodriguez’s way. “It’s clear he didn’t want to be a Yankee. He doesn’t understand the privilege of being a Yankee on a team where the owners are willing to pay $200 million to put a winning product on the field, “Steinbrenner told the New York Daily News. “I don’t want anybody on my team that doesn’t want to be a Yankee.”

After being asked if there’s any chance he could change his mind. “We’re not going to back down,” he said. “It’s goodbye.” Well there you have it…Now its time to see if Los Jankeees will be able to hold onto Mariano Rivera, Jorge Posada and Andy Pettitte, but right now they’re 0-2 with two HUGE strike outs.

Now yall know I’m a Mets fan so I’m not going out my way to feel sorry for the Yanks but this guy A-Rod is no bueno. How are you going to announce that you’re not coming back to the team 10 days before you need to? Perhaps because you wanted to steal the MLB spotlight away from the Red Sox and make the headlines about you?! What a joke. That’s why no one will ever love you, because the only person YOU LOVE is yourself.

Blouses. The Yanks Played themselves when they announced that they wouldn’t negotiate if A-rod opted out. It would be Hilarious if A-Rod ended up in Boston!
