LL Backs Down (Sort of); Set To Meet Up With Jay-Z

After talking “greezy” last week LL Cool J cleaned up his comments, offered his perspective on his “Anti-Def Jam/Jay-Z” campaign but still standing on the “soapbox.” He offered his point of view using a fashion analogy (he was promoting his rag line Todd Smith during a fashion show amidst Fashion Week) Here’s what he said to Jada Yuan of New York Magizine:
“It’s tough. Let’s be real. You know, they have an artistâ€â€”Jay-Z—“running a label full of artists. Okay? That’s like Calvin Klein running a fashion label and Varvatos and everyone else is underneath him. What kind of sense does that make? This hierarchy? It doesn’t work for me. I’m going to approach [the meeting with Jay-Z] from a positive, optimistic viewpoint. Hopefully it will work.â€
He also has his album, Exit 13: The Icon Versus The Wolf Pack, coming out early `08. The title represents Uncle L’s 13th album and siganal his exit from Def Jam as it fulfils his contract…while the Icon vs. The Wolf Pack represent LL vs. today’s teeny bopper rappers. OOOOkaaaaay!
