As previously reported rapper 50 Cent canceled his European tour; but he as reorganize his plans to support Curtis overseas. Â
The eight-date arena tour will feature stops in Glasgow, Manchester, London and other cities. His label Interscope stated the reason for the cancellation was previously cited as “unforeseen and unanticipated changes in his schedule.”
In a statement released by Interscope’s parent company Vivendi Universal, 50 sold about 2 million units worldwide in his first week, dominating most european retail markets (with the exception of the UK).
Curtis has already racked up sales of nearly 2 million in less than a week and appears on track to match the records set by 50 Cent’s previous albums, Get Rich or Die Tryin’, which sold 11 million copies and became the top-selling record of 2003, and The Massacre , released in 2005 with sales of nearly 8 million.
50 also released a statement addressing the “50 vs. Kanye” sales competition:
“I am very excited to have participated in one of the biggest album release weeks in the last two years,” he said in a statement released to the Associated Press. “Collectively, we have sold hundreds of thousands of units in our debut week. This marks a great moment for hip-hop music, one that will go down in history.”
